Vibrant Purple and Pink Inspired Styled Shoot

It can be a little scary to step outside of your comfort zone. I did exactly that when designing this styled shoot. I tend to gravitate towards the romantic designs as I love everything romantic, but I thought it was about time to challenge myself and I did just that. This styled shoot was created for Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club. At the request of their events director, they wanted to see something that was completely opposite of what is typically seen at the Yacht and Country Club; nautical and beach, blue and white themed weddings. I wasn't quite sure which direction I was going to take until I was inspired by by something completely out of the ordinary; while eating a plum, I thought "wow, what a beautiful color" and from that point on, I knew exactly the direction I would take. The deep, rich color of the plum guided me to the deep, rich purple color and I knew that a bright beautiful pink would compliment it very well. But, I didn't want the "pretty pastel romantic purple and pink", I wanted the "edgy and moody purple and pink". At that point, I had figured out the main colors of the design. I then decided to add in some metal, so I went with copper which is an up and coming trend in this industry. I also added in a pop of color with a vibrant teal and from that point on, the designs applied in to every aspect of the styled shoot started to come together flawlessly.

Another way I stepped outside of my comfort zone was to use linen that had an amazing print. I already decided I wanted to use a farmhouse table, so a subtle use of print in a napkin was just the right touch. In order for the print to pop, I used a black matted plate with a complimenting copper charger and matching flatware. The black goblet and fun martini glass with an awesome rock candy garnish completed the look of the place setting. But this place setting would not be complete without the use of the table runner. Typically, the table runner runs the length of the table...but again, I jumped outside of my comfort zone and did something different. Instead of doing what is the "norm" I used 2 table runners and ran them the width of the table and they became a placemat-like design underneath some of the place settings. Doing this brought a whole new look to the table and the beautiful color of the runner also added that pop of color.

The "little details" that I love were some of the most fun design details for this design. Details such as: the agate slice "place cards", propped up by non other than what inspired the design, a plum. The geode table number and Mr. & Mrs. sign added tradition to the table but in a new and creative way. The rock candy garnish placed on top of the martini glass added that edgy vibe and the hints of copper in the wire wrapped napkins and votive holders added the metal to the look of the table.

The design was truly pulled together by the flowers and Gabro Events really pulled through with bringing my vision to life. Their creativity and design skills and their desire for everything unique helped in polishing off the entire design. The arch created for the ceremony is what dreams are made out of. I am so incredibly pleased at everything they created and it sure was an honor to work with them.

Now, let's talk about the desserts! WOW! The Artistic Whisk nailed the desserts. I sent them my inspiration board and they created these pieces of art based on just a small conversation. It was truly incredible and so tasty!

Once everything came together, I was giddy with excitement. Up until the moment that the table was done, I wasn't quite sure if the design was going to come together the way I had it in my mind. But, I completely surprised myself at how much I loved everything and it was comforting that I had now proved to myself that I CAN step outside of my own comfort zone and create something that I could really be proud of.
